Thur-Op-Seat school chair by Galvanitas and Pagholz, red tube frame name: Thur-Op-Seat chair designer SEAT: Elmar Flototto manufacturer: Galvanitas Metaalindustrie, Oosterhout the Netherlands; and Pagholz, Germany original design year: 1967 The S19 is a beautiful elegant school chair. It was altered into the S22, which is stacking. The legs stick-out awkwardly but you gain functionality, especially important for schools. This was then altered again in the 70’s, this time for for manufacturing simplicity, with a red tube frame. Additionally in the 1980s they made a heavy-duty version with a thick pipe frame, of which there is also a child’s version. So here a later-model S22 chair, the same design concept and the same elegantpagholzseat but with a modern red base. compass legs design, powder-coated burgundy-red tube frame; with pagholz/PAG wood/pagwood shell seat, imprinted on the back with “Thur-Op-Seat” inside a large “G” (for Galvanitas); the seat is said to be designed by Elmar Flototto for Pagholz; stackable, some stacking damage; industrial dutch design classic from the sixties, revamped in the 70s and 80s; ideal for schools: canteen, assembly hall, auditorium, multipurpose room; vintage, retro, 1960s, stack
