How annoying that your buyer does not keep to his agreement! It is extremely important that all our customers can rely on each other. That is why we also give in to 'deal is deal' and are repeatedly asked to pay as soon as a deal has been reached. These are our terms of use but we cannot legally follow them because they are not part of consumer law. A buyer is asked to adhere to our terms of use. Apart from multiple requests, we can do no more than close the buyer's account if the agreement is not complied with.

Receiving bids

If you have enabled bidding in your ad, buyers can submit a bid. You will receive a WhatsApp, an e-mail and a notification in the chat about this (if enabled). You can accept or reject the bid and make a counter proposal. The buyer will also be notified of this.

Do you accept a bid? Then the buyer has 48 hours to checkout the item. Other buyers can still make bids, the item is not reserved. The item will no longer be available when it is settled.

Is the bid accepted by you and also settled by the buyer? Then the behaviour rule for both you as seller and the buyer applies; deal is deal. That means we expect you to set the item aside for that person, after all, the payment is in.

Buyer wants to cancel a bid

Since October 2023, it is also possible for the buyer to cancel a bid. The buyer can indicate the reason in the chat. Is a bid cancelled that you, the seller, have accepted? If so, we are obliged to also ask the buyer the reason for the cancellation. Whoppah can then learn from this feedback and ensure that cancellations occur as little as possible.

Go to your account, click on 'My ads' and click on the edit icon of the desired ad. Under the heading 'Price' you can disable bids.

As a seller, you determine the minimum you want for your item. Do you get an offer? Then you can accept it by clicking on the green check mark. If you want to reject a bid, click on the red cross. You make a counter-offer by stating an amount in the 'Counter-bid' window. As soon as you accept an offer as a seller, there is a deal. You just sold your item!

What can I sell on Whoppah

You can sell a wide range of interior items on Whoppah, including furniture and decor from affordable to high-end designer pieces. Items should be in at least good condition and priced at a minimum of 25 euros.

How do I list an item for sale?

To sell on Whoppah:

1. Take 5 photos of your item from different angles

2. Fill in the item details (brand, material, condition)

3. Set your price

4. Submit your ad

Your ad will be online within minutes, or within 2 days for designer items that require curation.

Are there any fees for selling?

• Creating and posting an ad is free

• Private sellers pay a sales commission of 12,5%

• Business sellers pay a 16% commission (excluding VAT) on sold items

 If you created an advertisement in the period of 18 December 2024 and 15 January 2025 the sales commission won't be deducted from your sale. 

For advertisements created before December 18th 2024 there is a sales commission of 12,5% or 5%. This change will not be retroactively adjusted.

How does the bidding process work?

If you enable bidding, buyers can submit offers. You'll be notified via WhatsApp, email, and chat. You can accept, reject, or counter the offer. Once accepted, the buyer has 48 hours to complete the purchase.

How long will my ad remain online?

Your ad stays online until the item is sold, but you need to renew it every 2 months. Whoppah will send reminder emails 14 and 7 days before expiration.

What happens after I make a sale?

Once a sale is made, both parties are expected to honor the agreement. The buyer should complete the payment within 48 hours, and you as the seller should set the item aside for that person.

How can I promote my listing?

For €7.99, you can promote your ad by placing it at the top of the product overview, increasing visibility.

Through payment service provider Stripe, data such as seller identification, transaction amount and other relevant information is collected. This data is necessary to comply with Dac7 requirements and to provide transparency to tax authorities.

3. Why does Whoppah / Stripe request this data for tax purposes?

Stripe, as a payment service provider, is responsible for complying with tax regulations, including Dac7. By requesting and passing this data to the tax authorities, Stripe helps Whoppah comply with its legal obligations.

4. As a seller, do I need to take action regarding Dac7 regulations on Whoppah?

As a seller, you need to ensure that the information in your Whoppah account is accurate, as this data will be used for reporting to the IRS. Make sure you have entered all required information correctly.

In addition, it is important to know that Whoppah may request additional verification in specific situations, when you have performed 30 transactions or more or when the total sales amount exceeds 2,000 euros. In such cases, the customer is asked to upload additional information securely via the Stripe platform. This upload procedure is secured to ensure users' privacy and data security. It is advisable to respond timely and accurately to any verification requests to maintain a smooth transaction experience and comply with applicable legal obligations.

5. How does Whoppah ensure the security of my data in accordance with Dac7 regulations?

Whoppah and Stripe implement strict security measures to ensure that collected data is stored and transmitted securely. They take the necessary steps to ensure user privacy and comply with relevant data protection laws and regulations.

6. What does the tax authority do with the data and do I have to pay tax on it?

The data provided in accordance with the Dac7 regulations is used by the tax authorities to monitor tax transactions and ensure that taxes are correctly paid. As a private seller who occasionally sells personal property, it is not normally required to pay tax on this income.

Tax liability generally applies when acting professionally, with sales made on a regular basis and for profit. If you act professionally as a seller, you should consult the relevant tax rules and obligations in your jurisdiction. It is always wise to seek advice from a tax advisor to be sure of the specific rules that apply to your situation. Keep in mind that tax laws vary by country and region.

Free Ad Placement: Creating and posting an ad on Whoppah is free of charge.

What can I sell on Whoppah?

On Whoppah, you can quickly sell a wide range of interior items, from affordable Ikea pieces to high-end designer treasures. It’s the ideal platform for decluttering your home while ensuring you get the best price. By listing your furniture and decor, you create space and connect with buyers. 

You can sell:

• All interior and furniture items from any brand (designer and non-designer)

• Items in at least good condition

• Items priced a minimum of 25 euros

Designer items are curated 

When you list an item from our Designer brands, like B&B Italia, Vitra, Hay, or Cassina, it will be curated and checked for authenticity and condition. This ensures buyers can discover beautiful pieces with confidence, knowing each item is 100% authentic. Designer items from these brands will be featured in the ‘Designer’ category.

As a private individual, you do not pay VAT on your sales. As a business seller in the Netherlands, you pay 21% VAT on the fee (i.e. not on the full sales amount). Are you a business seller outside the Netherlands and do you have a valid VAT number? Then you do not pay VAT based on the reverse charge mechanism. As a foreign seller, you must declare in the tax return that you have to report an amount of reverse-charge VAT.

To find and download your sales invoice, you can log in to your account and navigate to the 'My Purchases and Sales' tab. Here, you'll find an overview of all your purchases and sales, along with the associated invoices. It's important to note that the Whoppah Support Team cannot send invoices on your behalf. You should log in yourself to download your sales invoice.

Please be aware that the support team cannot make retroactive changes to your invoice. Therefore, it's crucial to use a business profile for business-related purchases/sales and a private account for personal purchases/sales. This helps prevent unnecessary errors and ensures you can always download the correct invoices.

These buttons are not displayed on the app for your own advertisements, to avoid confusion. 

On Whoppah we have one rule: a deal is a deal. This way we prevent silly offers from being made and sellers not knowing where they stand. Buyers are therefore asked to make the payment after a deal, for which we email twice, text twice and contact us by phone on request. If a buyer does not do this, he is violating our usage rules. We cannot legally enforce a payment, but will repeatedly deny the buyer access to Whoppah.

If your advertisement is being curated you've listed an item that falls in our Designer category. 

Your item will only appear in the Designer category if it comes from our list of recognized Designer brands. This process is automatic, so you cannot change it yourself. The "All" category includes every item listed on Whoppah. If your item resembles a design piece but isn’t from a recognized Designer brand, it will still be listed under "All" for interior enthusiasts to find.

Our professional curation team checks every advertisement and checks whether all information has been entered correctly and assesses whether the item meets our curation rules. This way, the supply on Whoppah remains of high quality. Among other things, they look at:

• The condition of the product. This must be at least 'good'; 
  - Whether the item shows no gross damage or wear; 
  - All parts are present; 
  - Popularity, brand and design; 
  - The commonality and attractiveness of the price. As a rule, we hold that an average of 50% will be deducted from the original purchase price within 3 years. In the case of art, vintage or unique design items, we look at the market prices. 
  

It's simple selling on Whoppah:

At Whoppah, selling is an effortless process. Follow these steps to get started:

1. Click the 'Sell Now' button to get started.
2. Create a free account (or log in if you already have an account).
3. You can now post your listings. Upload at least 5 photos of your item and provide a detailed description.
4. Don't forget to fill in the condition of the item, your asking price and any additional information. If you have an item from a known brand make sure to correctly select the brand.
5. If you have a brand that is on our recognized Brand list, curators will check if the item complies with our curation rules and if all the required information is filled in.
6. If everything is in order, your ad will be placed online within 2 business days. You will receive confirmation of this by e-mail.

Thanks to these simple steps, you can effortlessly offer your items for sale on Whoppah.

On Whoppah, the asking price is always for the set. If you are selling multiple items such as dining chairs, make sure your asking price is for the entire set. Do you want to sell items separately? Then create an advertisement for each item to avoid confusion.

I have a designer item but it does not appear in Designer, what now?

If your item looks like a design piece but isn't from a recognized Designer brand, don't worry! Your item will automatically be listed in the "All" category, which includes all interior items and design pieces. This categorization is purely based on Whoppah's predefined list of Designer brands, and you cannot manually change it. The "All" category ensures that interior enthusiasts can still discover and appreciate your stylish item, even if it doesn't meet the criteria for the Designer brands category. So whether your piece is from a well-known designer or a hidden gem, it will find its way to the right buyer on Whoppah.

If you have a design piece and it is from a Designer brand but isn't showing up in the "Designer" section then please make sure that you've selected the brand in the brand field.

For €7.99 we will promote your ad by placing it again at the top of the product overview. Your items will then be clearly more visible at the top of the page.
An easy and effective way to boost your sales. You can promote your items through your account. Go to 'Account', click on 'My ads' and click on the ad you want to promote.

In addition, make sure that your items are opalescent. Three tips to sell faster:
1. Sell 5x faster with top photos
Take photos that catch your eye. How? Provide daylight, a neutral background and take the photos at eye level.

2. Provide enough information
The more details, the faster the item sells. A potential buyer would like to know the condition and possibly the designer or brand of the item.

3. Attractive price
Do you find it difficult to determine the asking price? Then look at similar items. Once you have determined the asking price, buyers can buy the item directly with the 'Buy Now' button. Tip: Lower the price over time, buyers who have marked your item as a favorite will be notified.

How long will my ad remain online?

Your ad will remain online until the item is sold. However, it's important to note that you need to renew your ad every 2 months. You can do this through the "My Ads" section. We will send you a reminder email 14 days and 7 days before your ad expires.

If you've sold the item through another method, we recommend removing the ad as soon as possible. The option to purchase the item immediately remains available as long as your ad is online.

If you want to renew or reactivate your ad, you can go to "My ads" and then to "Modify". There you will find the button to reactivate the ad.

As soon as your item has been reactivated, you will receive an e-mail confirmation.

Your advertisement will remain active for 2 months.

Yes, you will receive a notification 2 weeks before your ad expires and a reminder one week before the ad expires.

Removing your ad:

You have the option to remove your ad for free if needed. Follow these steps to remove your ad:

• Go to your account and click on "My Ads"
• Select the "Active Ads" section
• Find the ad you want to remove and click on "Edit"
• Scroll down and at the bottom of the page you will find the option to remove the ad from the platform.
