Hopmi chair with tip-up-seat by Gerrit Rietveld In 1932 Gerrit Rietveld designed two different chairs for Hopmi, one of which had a tip-up-seat for theater/cinema Vreeburg in Utrecht, above which he lived for many years. HM Mertens saw this chair, adapted it and used it the same year in theRemonstrantse church he was working on. (architectJ. Roodenburgh)These were produced by UMS which later became Pastoe. He replaced the seat and back with his own and added the armrests.
